Each format has a different role in a QR code workflow.
- PNG: a strong default for websites, presentations and Office documents because it is lossless and widely supported.

Why JPG artifacts are risky
JPG is designed for photos, not sharp module grids. Compression can add noise near edges and make small QR codes harder to scan.
- Avoid repeated saving as JPG.
- Do not use aggressive compression for printed QR codes.
- If a JPG is unavoidable, export large, use high quality and test the final file.
Print workflow with SVG
SVG is usually the safest handoff for layout software.
- Export the QR code as SVG.
- Place the SVG in the layout at the final physical size.
- Keep the quiet zone visible after placement.
- Export the print PDF and scan from the PDF proof or a test print.
